While I love the warmth, long days and vibrant flavors that summer brings – I always look forward to the transition to fall. It brings the coziest scents and sights that make me feel at ease. In this 5×5 post I am rounding up 5 products, produce, flavor combos, recipes and activities to look forward to enjoying this fall. Let me know what you plan to try as well!
5 Produce Items To Rotate

While SCDers can’t have sweet potato, roasted acorn squash and butternut squash help make up for it! Roasting these make a perfectly cozy, filling side dish. Red and yellow beets are also another favorite item to roast in the oven. Their vibrant color can elevate any dish. (Pro tip: buying pre-cut & washed if not up for the mess). Lastly, apples and pears (1) are a good go-to snack in their raw form, (2) sliced up add a sweet & crunchy variety to salads, (3) bake into the sweetest, easiest fall dessert (topped w/cinnamon).
5 Flavor Combos To Try
Keep these in mind to spruce up salads, desserts & sides

5 Fall Activities To Enjoy
While food is often the center of our dining tables and social events – let’s remember there are so many other aspects of the season to embrace beyond what we eat.
I’m looking forward to evenings by the fire pit, sitting on the porch with a book, and going for a hike admiring the leaves changing. I also can’t wait to break out some decor: scented candles, chunky blankets, some pumpkins on the porch and a thankful-themed welcome mat. There are tons of apple orchards nearby that I’d like to pick from, enjoying nature and getting the goods for some sweet treats to make at home.
In case you need it, here are some other ideas to embrace fall. I hope you feel encouraged to appreciate the flavors and moments this season brings.
- Corn maze
- Hay ride
- Crisp walk
- Picnic
- Football game
- Bike ride
- Farmer’s Market
- Fall clothes shopping
- Play in the leaves
- Fall fair
